Cooperation for a stable world economy

Working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability and sustainable growth.

Global Monetary Institute (GMI) is an organization of 191 member jurisdictions recognized as the global authority on the issuance of Clearance Certificates and the verification, release, and repatriation of OFAC-blocked funds. Our mandate is to ensure that legitimate capital — whether held in correspondent banks, digital-asset custodians, or sanctioned escrow accounts — can move across borders with full regulatory transparency.

Established in 1948, GMI has spent more than seven decades building the legal and operational frameworks that underpin modern cross-border compliance. We work in close coordination with national treasuries, central banks, and financial intelligence units to attest source-of-funds, lift administrative holds, and document the lawful provenance of large-value transfers.

Today, GMI is the principal issuer of internationally recognized Clearance Certificates required by tier-1 banks, custodians, and exchanges before releasing blocked, dormant, or flagged balances. Our specialists handle OFAC SDN reviews, frozen-asset assessments, anti-money-laundering attestations, and the structured release of both fiat reserves and digital assets held under sanctions regimes.

Whether you are an individual recovering an inheritance, an institution completing a sovereign settlement, or an investor off-ramping digital holdings, our clearance program provides the documentation required to satisfy compliance officers in every member jurisdiction.

Our three core activities

Clearance Certification

Issuing internationally recognized Clearance Certificates that authenticate the lawful origin of fiat and digital-asset holdings.

OFAC Blocked Funds Release

Coordinating sanctions reviews, SDN evaluations, and the structured release of frozen accounts held in correspondent and custodial institutions.

Compliance Advisory

AML/KYC attestations, source-of-funds documentation, and technical assistance for banks, treasuries, and high-net-worth clients.
