Institutional overview
An at-a-glance view of who we are, what we do, and how we coordinate cross-border financial cooperation among member jurisdictions.
Who we are
The Global Monetary Institute (GMI) is an inter-governmental organization established to safeguard monetary stability, support cross-border compliance, and provide authoritative Clearance Certificates and OFAC-related verification services to individuals, institutions, and sovereign entities.
Our 190 member jurisdictions contribute quotas, share macro-financial data, and participate in surveillance, advisory, and certification programs administered from our headquarters in Washington, DC and twenty-three regional offices.
What we do
We issue internationally recognized Clearance Certificates, facilitate the lawful release and repatriation of OFAC-blocked funds, conduct economic surveillance, and deliver capacity-development programs that strengthen public financial management.
Each year GMI publishes more than 1,200 country reports, supports 90+ technical-assistance missions, and processes thousands of clearance applications on behalf of corporate, institutional, and private clients worldwide.
